A Name Erased

Graea listened with her lips slowly thinning into a line, knowing the reason he glanced back and its implications on his words. She frowned. Too many seemed to be showing unusual interest in her of late. "He said my path was indeterminate - that it could travel forwards, but also back." she ventured. Dayniel's teeth showed faintly as if he wanted to snarl but he didn't, exhaling slowly and half closing his eyes a moment, "there was another tha day who came tae save ye... " his tone both resigned and wary, "another in yer life at tha time... who has since departed... " his fingertips moving around behind her to trace the silvery lines along her spine "he did this.. "

Graea frowned slightly, reaching to touch at the silvery line of the dagger scar, long since healed but never faded. Her brows knotted heavily with the effort of trying to recall, as always coming up with deadspace in every memory. She shook her head faintly, lips parting to protest, but no words came, knowing her sidhe would not lie to her. "I thought Dusk stabbed me..." she stuttered eventually.

Dayniel slowly closed his eyes and brought his head down to hers, his other hand coming up to the back of her neck, bringing his brow against hers, and like a slow breeze blowing through her memories, the fog began to lift, to clear, to focus, letting her see what he'd kept to the very last, even when she'd become whole and herself. Slowly, she closed her eyes as he offered back all that was taken.

Her mind still played over her imprisonment in the sithen, able to remember as clear as day the feel of the cold silver sliding into her flesh, numbed by endless torturous hours at the hands of the fae. Yet his comment had planted a seed of doubt that grew fast enough to leave her not knowing who had been on the other end. As the fog in which he'd encased the most destructive of her memories began to lift, the scene began to complete, missing pieces settling into place to reveal all.
